Freight forwarding and customs, built for cargo that can’t wait.

Canopi moves ocean, air and road freight into and out of the UK, with customs handled in-house. We built the business around perishables, where timing is critical. We bring the same operational discipline to every shipment we move.

Why Canopi

We know how to keep freight moving. We manage the ports, capacity, customs and delivery, keeping every part of the shipment on track. That’s how we run every shipment, whatever we’re moving.

25,000+ TEUs a year.

An account manager who knows your business

Same person every time. They know your cargo, your delivery points and your regular lanes, so you don't have to explain your business every time something moves.

Customs handled in-house

Import entries, commodity codes, IPAFFS, phytosanitary certification and port health, all handled by our own brokers. We aim to lodge entries before the vessel berths so cargo can move on discharge.

A portal you'll actually open

Live shipment status, every document, every invoice, and a daily report of what has landed and what's coming. Nobody has to ring us for an update, though you still can.

No single-carrier dependency

Contracted space with several shipping lines and transport providers, plus the flexibility to book elsewhere when it makes sense. We also have established relationships at the ports. When capacity tightens, we can move quickly, which keeps boxes rolling and demurrage off your invoice.

“They answer the phone and the answer is always yes.”

Capacity

Ten containers off the quay in under a day

A retailer's demand ran ahead of forecast and ten boxes needed to be at their DCs earlier than planned. We had less than 24 hours' notice. Every load was covered, at rate.

Visibility

A daily report that ended the chasing

They'd come from a forwarder they had to ring for updates, and paid detention and demurrage while they waited on the phone. Now a 7am report tells them which containers land when, matched against what the stores need. No more chasing, and no more paying for time the cargo shouldn't have spent on the quay.

New lane

A first run that doubled overnight

First shipment with a new supplier, frozen vegetables out of Italy. The volume doubled the day before collection. It still went on schedule, and both ends knew where it was the whole way.

Common questions
Can you take on a shipment that's already in trouble?+

Often, yes. The usual ones are a rolled booking, a container sitting on the quay running up demurrage, a failed haulage collection, or an entry rejected because of a documentation error. What we need first is where the box physically is, who holds the release, and whether free time has expired. Send us the container number and bill of lading, and we'll come back quickly on whether we can help.

Do you handle customs clearance yourselves?+

Yes, in-house. Entries, phytosanitary certification, IPAFFS pre-notification and port health are all handled by our own brokers rather than passed to a third-party agent. We aim to lodge entries before the vessel berths so the box can move on discharge instead of waiting on paperwork.

How quickly can you quote?+

Same working day. If it's unconventional cargo, it may take a little longer, but we'll let you know ahead of time.

Do you have a minimum volume?+

No, we're happy to help with any volume requirements you have.

We already have a forwarder. What does moving actually involve?+

Getting set up is very straightforward. It just requires filling in a few documents and we can start. It also doesn't have to happen all at once. Some importers start by giving us one lane or one origin to run alongside their existing forwarder.

Which UK ports do you cover?+

All major gateways, with regular operations at London Gateway, Tilbury, Felixstowe, Southampton, Portsmouth, Dover and Liverpool. Port choice isn't neutral: the right gateway for a chilled load is the one with the shortest run to your delivery point, not necessarily the one with the cheapest ocean rate. We'll recommend the port that gets your cargo delivered best for your requirements; for some that's speed, for others it's pricing. One of our directors holds a board position at London Gateway.

Tell us what you're moving. We'll tell you how we'd do it.
